The University of Windsor’s new $22.6M School of Social Work and Centre for Executive and Professional Education is the first installation of its new downtown campus. Built on the historic Windsor Star site, the 61,135 s.f. building houses the School of Social Work as well as the Centre for Executive and Professional Education inside a four-storey state-of-the-art structure that combines both contemporary and heritage architecture. The original limestone facade at the Northeast corner of the site has been preserved and is integrated into the design of a three-storey atrium. The brick facade immediately to the South forms a screen on the East side of the courtyard. The building supports more than 500 students and faculty. It houses classrooms, workstations, offices, a computer lab, and also boasts interconnected floors, a grand open staircase inside the three-storey atrium and a landscaped roof terrace. With the completion of the School of Social Work and Centre for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE), the University of Windsor’s downtown campus is ready to take on the challenge of combining academic excellence with civic engagement and service to breathe new life into Windsor’s downtown.
